Community of Practice for CALD Domestic and Family Violence Workforce

Jannawi Family Centre is establishing a state -wide Community of Practice (CoP) for the culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) domestic and family violence (DFV) workforce and invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from practitioners across services, sectors and communities.

This initiative will bring together bicultural, bilingual and multicultural practitioners, alongside other professionals supporting CALD communities experiencing domestic and family violence, to connect, share knowledge and strengthen culturally responsive practice.

The Community of Practice will be co-designed with participants to ensure it reflects the experiences, priorities and emerging needs of the workforce. Participants will have the opportunity to help shape the focus, format and direction of the CoP, creating a meaningful and relevant professional learning network that responds to the realities of practice across NSW.

Grounded in cultural safety, trauma-informed practice and the value of lived and professional experience, the Community of Practice will provide a safe and collaborative space to:

  • Build connections and reduce professional isolation.
  • Share knowledge, resources and practice.
  • Reflect on complex practice challenges and explore collective solutions.
  • Strengthen culturally responsive support for children, young people and families.
  • Promote practitioner wellbeing, capability and continuous learning.

Participation opportunities may include metropolitan face-to-face gatherings, regional engagement opportunities, online sessions and other collaborative learning activities.

The approach will be informed by participant feedback to ensure the Community of Practice remains accessible, inclusive and responsive to workforce needs across NSW.

Who should express interest?

We welcome Expressions of Interest from bicultural, bilingual and professionals supporting CALD communities experiencing domestic and family violence.
