At Jannawi, we see every day how much children thrive when they are given the opportunity to belong, participate, and feel included.

For many of the children and families we support, opportunities that others may take for granted — joining a sporting team, attending music lessons, receiving tutoring support, or participating in after-school activities — are simply out of reach.

Many families are already doing everything they can to cover the essentials: rent, groceries, transport, school costs, and utilities. When financial pressure becomes overwhelming, activities that support a child’s confidence, connection, and wellbeing are often the first things families must go without.

But every child deserves the chance to participate.

That is why our Kids Support Program exists — to help bridge the financial gap so children can access the same opportunities as their peers.

Mathew* is seven years old.

Like many children his age, he dreamed of joining Judo after hearing his friends excitedly talk about their classes each week. He wanted to learn alongside them, make friends, and feel part of something.

But for Mathew’s mum, Sarah*, the cost of enrolment and purchasing the required uniform was simply unaffordable.

Without support, Mathew would have continued watching from the sidelines.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Mathew was able to enrol in Judo and receive his own judogi.

That support meant more than attending a class.

It meant belonging.

It meant confidence.

It meant connection.

Instead of missing out, Mathew was able to step onto the mat proudly beside his peers, learn new skills, build friendships, and experience the joy of participating like every other child.

Stories like Mathew’s remind us that even small acts of support can have a lasting impact on a child’s life.
